This jet or shale ring was found by J. P. and J. C. Heathcote on Stanton Moor. It was found during the excavation of cairn T16. This cairn had been previously excavated but there is no record of the work. The Heathcotes recorded the cairn as a depression surrounded by a ring of stones. On excavating the cairn they found that the top part had been disturbed. The only find from this disturbed area was the jet ring.

The ring is made of shaped and polished jet or shale. It is the right size for a finger ring. It is approximately circular with a central hole and a sub-triangular cross section.
