This urn was recovered from one of the burials in cairn T3 on Stanton Moor. This burial, numbered T3B, was excavated in 1929. The urn was found upside down, on top of a large deposit of bones and charcoal. Underneath the layer of bones was another, smaller urn, laid on its side and badly crushed. This urn also contained cremated bones. On top of the larger urn was a stone slab, to seal and mark the grave.

This double burial appears to be of a woman and child. Five burnt flints and a cylindrical bead were also found.
