A lot of glass and glass waste was found at Bolsterstone. Waste includes slag and unwanted glass. Glass is discarded or reused if it is not up to standard.
Some is likely to be cullet. This is the name given to pieces of old broken glass used in the making of new fresh glass. Glass used as cullet may not have been made at the site.
A range of glass colours was available. Colours were created by adding other materials to the glass crucible. For example, cobalt was used to produce blue glass.
