Site name : Catcliffe
Site type : Industrial production site
Time period : Post-Medieval
Material : Glass
Object type : Household item

This is a doorstop made of green bottle glass. It was made at the Catcliffe glassworks in the late 19th century.
The doorstop is egg shaped with a flat bottom. Inside it is a flower and pot motif. This is visible on close inspection. However, the surface of the glass has been scratched. This makes it difficult to see the inside clearly.
This was made about 1870, probably by Henry Blunn's company. It later belonged to a descendant of that family. It was given to Weston Park Museum in the 1960s.
