The strap-end from Wigber Low is simple example of the type. On the right is the attachment to the strap. The leather strap fits between the two plates and is held in place by the rivet. The object appears to have been cast in an open mould as the underside is flat.
There are no immediate parallels for this type of strap-end in the Peak District. Other Anglo-Saxon silver objects were found in the area in the 19th century. These include pins and knotted wire rings. They are now in the British Museum.
