This watercolour shows some of the objects found in Galley Low barrow. Some are prehistoric and some Anglo-Saxon. Llewellynn Jewitt makes no attempt to separate material from different periods. The layout of the page looks pleasing to the eye. The two Anglo-Saxon glass beads are on each side of the Bronze Age Food vessel. This gives a sense of balance to the picture. It is unhelpful in mixing objects of different dates. We have to remember that Jewitt was an artist. He wanted to create an effect not tell a story.
